In 2008, Bashea founded and began developing a program called V.O.I.C.E. (Valuing Our Incredible Children Everyday)—a program designed to help young people develop their talents and transfer artistic skills such as discipline, cooperation, higher order thinking, and creativity to everyday life. V.O.I.C.E is currently completing their first children’s CD to be released in 2011.
Bashea has directed and written music and plays for several elementary and high school choral ensembles and served as the assistant director for the Prince George’s County Southern Honor’s Chorus. Her choral and dance ensembles have performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and throughout the DC Metropolitan area for community events, political affairs, and fundraisers; they have also been featured on WPGC 95.5 and WPFW 83.9FM.
As a certified group exercise instructor, personal trainer, and yoga instructor, Bashea encourages young people to eat healthy and exercise. She had provided many programs and workshops on children’s fitness, nutrition, and childhood obesity.
Bashea’s energetic, enthusiastic, and motivating personality captivates young people. She is frequently invited to do motivational speaking events and cultural arts programs featuring African dance, storytelling, arts/crafts and music regionally.
Bashea believes that every child is born with a unique gift or talent to share with others that ultimately has the power to positively change the world.
